In the latest episode of The Angle Podcast, we host Nndwamato Manyanya, a 25-year-old innovator and the founder and CEO of I-N Tech, a company revolutionising renewable energy by merging IoT technologies with kinetic energy solutions. At such a young age, Manyanya has already secured millions in international funding and developed four patents that showcase his forward-thinking approach to clean energy and sustainable innovation.
Speaking on The Angle Podcast, Manyanya revealed his passion for solving real-world problems, a mindset shaped by his upbringing in a community often impacted by power outages. “People don’t care if your product is high-tech or simple—they care if it solves a real-life problem,” he explained. “Solve a problem, and the money will follow.”
One of I-N Tech’s flagship products is an electricity-generating gym machine that rewards users with what he referred to as ‘green coins’, a point system they can convert into discounts or money. Other innovations include tiles that produce electricity from footsteps and road devices that harness energy from traffic. “Energy is everywhere,” Manyanya said. “We just need to learn how to capture it effectively and make it work for us.”
I-N Tech has already attracted US$10 million in funding from investors in the UK, UAE, and China, which Manyanya plans to use to establish a manufacturing pipeline. His goal? To bring production back to South Africa, creating jobs and bolstering local economies. “It’s not just about making energy solutions,” he said. “It’s about creating opportunities for people who’ve been left out of the global tech revolution.”
Manyanya’s work has earned him recognition far beyond South Africa’s borders, but his focus remains firmly on the continent. He is passionate about using renewable energy to address the unique challenges faced by African communities, from unreliable power grids to the lack of affordable solutions for everyday users. “Africa has the resources and the talent,” he said. “What we need are systems that work for us, not ones imported from other markets.”
I-N Tech’s journey is just beginning, but Manyanya’s vision is clear, “The future of energy is not just green—it’s local, inclusive, and driven by innovation.” In this episode, he opens up about his personal journey, including the pivotal role his upbringing played in inspiring his ideas, as well as the challenges of building a tech startup in South Africa.
